Vehicle Inertial Measurement Facility
The VIMF can measure center-of-gravity height, lateral and longitudinal positions as well as compute pitch, yaw and roll moments of inertia and determine roll/yaw product of inertia. The VIMF facility is capable of running highly accurate and repeatable tests in less than three hours test time per vehicle.
S-E-A's Vehicle Inertial Measurement Facility (VIMF) measures center-of-gravity location and inertia on vehicles weighing up to 4,500 kg (10,000 lbs). Our VIMF is the standard for the U.S. National Highway Traffic & Safety Administration's (NHTSA) center-of-gravity and inertia measurements. It provides high accuracy and efficiency, and is used by S-E-A to perform measurements of the vehicle Static Stability Factor (SSF) for NHTSA's New Car Assessment Program (NCAP) to provide 5-Star Rollover ratings for consumer vehicles.
